Do you like being the sheriff? Why or why not?

I like being in law enforcement as an overall profession. Being a sheriff of a small town has its ups and downs, but overall I like it more than being a career officer in the service, which is what I was before coming back home to Black Ridge Cove. I think that is the best part of my job. I get to protect the people I know and love.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have a black lab named King. I got him a couple of years ago from Ranger Dana. Her dog and King have had one litter together so far. That’s where I got Baxter for Libby.

What keeps you awake at night?

Normally, I sleep fine. Until I start thinking about Libby and what she is up to that is going to get her into trouble. Or, maybe I should just admit that all kinds of thoughts of Libby tend to keep me awake.

What is your biggest regret? What did you learn from it?

If you know Libby, you know my backstory, so I won’t go into that here. But I will say that as much a I wish I could take back the pain I caused her, I do not think I would have changed much of what I did. It wasn’t a great way to end a relationship. I wish I had been more honest before I just up and left, more honest with her and more honest with myself.

I also should have told her grandfather to take a flying leap when he asked me to keep secrets from Libby. I guess that right there is my biggest regret – keeping secrets from Libby. But leaving to find myself and be better able to protect her, I just can’t regret that.

I’m not sure I learned much. Guess we will have to see.
