I enjoy placing people and things I know from my childhood into my cozy mysteries. It makes it extra fun for me to read about how much people enjoy them when some of these things are close to my heart.

That is the way it is with the Cribbage playing gentlemen in Mae Anderson’s home – the Bouchard brothers. In the book, there are three. In real life, there were five. They were the five younger brothers to my mémère. Their names were Wallace(my father was named after him), Dominic, Gilman, Isiah, and Paul.

I don’t remember a lot about them, I was very young. But there are three things that stick in my mind: they called my mémère George(her name was Georgianna), they played cribbage, and they hung out in Gilman’s auto shop talking about cars – they all loved cool cars and of course, trucks. Which is where I got the idea to use their spirits in a book when I needed talk of the mustangs.

Talk to you all soon! Ana
